When the Teacher Becomes Untouchable
The Performance of Being Awakened
Have you met them?
The ones who speak only of totality, presence, awareness, consciousness.
Not all teachers. But a certain type.
Godly-looking. Godly-speaking. Almost beyond human.
You rarely hear about their jealousy or anger. Their confusion. Their messy relationships. Their private grief.
The teaching stays pristine :
“There is nobody here.”
“Grief is only a wave in the ocean.”
“All is appearing in awareness.”
Beautiful. Often true at a certain level.
Definitely required at some stage, but it isn’t the ultimate liberation.
It’s like claiming a pure Guru image.
But something subtle begins to form around this purity.
The Trap of Superiority
In some circles, non-duality becomes moral policing.
If you say, “I feel hurt,” someone asks, “Who is hurt?”
If you question the teacher, the hive mind ( Collective ego of the cult) quietly labels you unawakened.
Language gets sanitised. Emotion becomes immaturity.
Humanity becomes identification.
Slowly, spirituality turns into performance.
You must speak the right language.
You must not sound like a person.
The ego is condemned and replaced by a more refined one.
The awakened identity.
Why It’s So Attractive
Because we want refuge.
We want certainty.
We want someone to guarantee that the world is an illusion and everything is already perfect.
“No self anyway.”
It’s comforting.
Around charismatic figures, that comfort becomes organised. A hive mind forms. Devoted followers defend, promote, and replicate the message. Literally like a spiritual MLM network, which is doing it not for money but for spiritual belongingness or identity.
Question the teacher, and the community responds.
You are either inside the field of grace.
Or outside it.
The Real Danger
The problem is not awareness.
The problem is using awareness to escape being human.
You can speak about oneness and still avoid vulnerability.
You can proclaim emptiness and still protect your image.
You can say there is no self and still defend being “the awakened one.”
Spirituality becomes anaesthesia.
A way to float above life instead of inhabit it.
Sometimes the calm smile is not freedom.
It is dissociation in sacred clothing.
The Work That Cannot Be Skipped
Real awakening does not erase the human.
It exposes it.
Your anger.
Your shame.
Your need to be special.
Your fear of rejection.
Not as something to get rid of, but the reminiscences or the patterns which can pull you back into the dream of separation or hypnotise you into believing that you are a separate person.
This part is boring.
Stateless.
No fireworks. No cosmic language. Just you sitting with your own contractions, without escaping into philosophy.
No “there is no one.”
Just feeling.
Staying.
Letting the nervous system unwind. Letting old patterns surface.
Apologising when you’re wrong. Admitting when you’re hurt.
This is embodiment.
Not the idea of only oneness in isolation.
Oneness lived in traffic, in marriage, in money, in failure.
Freedom Without Theatre
True freedom does not need an audience.
It does not need a huge follower and a hive mind.
It can cry.
It can say “I don’t know.”
It can be ordinary.
The side of spirituality that binds you is the side that offers transcendence without integration.
If you really want freedom, there comes a season where the books close, the teacher fades, and you embrace your humanity.
Bored.Stateless.No fireworks.
And you stay.
That quiet, unglamorous staying:
That is where embodiment begins.
Bliss Voice AI for Self Inquiry
Inspired by the teachings of Ramana Maharshi, Nisarga Datta Maharaj, Rupert, Atmanada Krishna Menon and my lived experience, I have developed a conversational Voice AI for Non-Dual Self Inquiry. Would be nice if you could try to give us your feedback. This would help us to improve it and make it useful for self-inquiry.
